David Hockney

David Hockney was an English painter, stage designer and photographer. He is known for his photo collages and paintings, and is considered one of the most influential British artists of the 20th century. He was born in Bradford, England, in 1937, and attended art school in London before moving to LA later on.
When he was in LA, he painted his famous swimming pool paintings. In 1970, he started to work in photography, where he created photo collages called joiners. In the 1980s, he started to paint again and began making prints on a photocopier. During his time, he made prints, portraits of friends, and stage designs. Later on in his life, his biggest painting was a huge milestone for him. It was painted on 50 different canvases and he donated the big painting to a gallery in London, which led to a documentary being made about him. His way of photographing was taking hundreds of pictures and creating a collage with them to make them into one photograph of some sort of scenery. His paintings were also of scenery, but they were painted with very vibrant colors.
